James Matthew Barrie, born 9 May 1860 is best know for creating Peter Pan. While the character Peter Pan is central to several works penned by Barrie, Pan is best known from the Barrie play “Peter Pan, or The Boy Who Wouldn’t Grow Up.” This central character trait of Peter Pan’s refusing to grow up and the related desire to be free to live as he wished has become one of the central metaphors for the rock ‘n’ roll life. To celebrate the 150th anniversary of his birth, a garage rock playlist seems only fitting.

    This recording was a masterwork, one of the true highlights of the '80's and one of the very finest collections of "blue-eyed soul" (Having never met Mr. Hugh, I have no notion of his eye-color, but the movement that began with the Righteous Brothers and continued through Hall and Oates seems to have culminated in the two RCA albums from Grayson Hugh). If not blue-eyed soul, then how about "Channeling the best of Sam Cooke as the millennium approached"). Great songs, great vocals, great keyboards, great arrangements—the real thing done really well!
